Divided Tanks
At times, it is best for your betta to be left alone in the tank. But if you would like to see added beauty to your tank, you can still do it without fear that life inside is going to get cruel and that no bloody fight would ensue. In order for you to effectively do it, let me tell about divided betta fish tanks.
A divided tank is a multipurpose tank. It can be used for acclimatization of a betta or other fish that you may want to keep in the tank with your beloved betta. It can also be used as separator for the male and female betta after the mating process is completed. After mating, the female may begin snacking on either the eggs or the fins of the male and this is a circumstance that you want to avoid. To prevent this, make sure to place the female in another division of the tank.
I would recommend that you use 10 gallon division tank. This tank may be divided to more than two sections and may be customized depending on your artistic ability and design preference. Be sure however that the maximum dividers shall be 4 for this 10 gallon tank so that you can allow the water to flow from one end to another end. There are premade tank dividers which can be bought. They tend to be more expensive because you will not run the risk of cutting your fingers anymore in trying to customize the same and put some hole in it for efficient water flow.
You can buy the tank dividers and have it permanently installed using silicone at your tank. Glaziers can be asked to cut it for you. You can also buy Perspex which is much the same with glass except that it tentd to chip, crack or break quite easily. But if you want the dividers to be less expensive solution to take, you may choose among coroplast, plastic perforated canvass or plastic fly screen.
While you can also opt for larger tanks and can raise the number of divisions, you must always ensure that the proper flow dynamics is observed. To make sure that the water from one end will reach the other, you need to place holes on the division which must not be close to the surface as it would cause the bubbles nest to get into the other section. With these facts in mind, you’re now ready to purchase your first division tank.
