Book Review – Betta Care Made Easy
“Betta Care Made Easy” By Adam Short and Amy Grant – An ebook Review
A betta fish is undoubtedly a creature of beauty and elegance. As it sways its fins, you can see its grace. Adam Short, the co-author, has fallen into a deep fascination with betta fish and has been caring for quite a number of bettas for over 25 years. With Amy Grant, the tandem has surprised me at the breadth of what I have come to learn as each page unfolds.
The ebook has indeed turned me into an instant convert to becoming a true aquarist. The way the authors walked me through the basics of betta fish care, I was made to understand how badly I am currently treating my betta.
Throughout the years of owning bettas, Adam has developed a foolproof formula for setting betta tanks. This is what you can discover when you walk around the pages of the ebook. The authors will answer all your burning betta questions and after turning the last page, you will no longer live by the old adage stating among others that “ignorance is bliss”.
The chapter on bringing the betta home is just eye opening. At first glance, we might think that bettas would prefer to live under the conditions of the low-lying areas in Asia. The ebook will make you realize that they would appreciate you more if you can provide them just the right tank. By letting your betta dive into a best chosen tank, you can definitely prolong his joy and his life.
In the diet chapter, I became more concerned on what is right to feed rather than just being happy seeing him nibble at the food while his fins envelop his body. With carnivorous nature, bettas jump with excitement when you feed them their favorite meat and protein diet. But that’s not all folks! Reading the pages will make you even more informed than those claiming to be expert in feeding.
Adam’s insight on giving your betta a treat to live in community with others is so fundamental. He would just tell you up front that it would be to the best joy of your betta if you buy a community tank for him and let other exquisite creatures live closer if not shoulder to shoulder with him. Those of you who don’t get the idea why your betta seems so lonely may just need to buy one rather that beat your head on the wall over and over in finding what probably is the reason for his sadness.
“Beta Care Made Easy” offers far more than the foregoing. It will answer all the questions you have in mind. It covers a wide array of betta care topics like cleaning the tank, setting just the perfect temperature, breeding, disease control and prevention and deals with the frequently gnawing questions from the rest of the betta parents. And having heard all these, I hope you realize that this book will help you keep your betta in the right conditions to live a long and happy life!
